Dang! New York gets cold quick! I need my winter jacket already. The orlando vacations I was looking into are surely looking really really good about now! I was planning the trip for next year, but now would be a GREAT time to go south for the winter. Just walking out onto the balcony is enough to send you back under the covers for another month. The wind cuts like a few swords aimed right at your vital organs. Scary lol.
What was your favorite class in high school? (And no, lunch doesn't count.)
I would have to say Journalism was my absolute favorite class. I had thought to make journalism into my career, but GOD had other plans for me. I still use many of the skills I learned in journalism and advertising with our ministries and businesses today, but if I had pursued those avenues my life would be much different now. Not better, mind you, but different.
Choir was not really a class, as it was the joy of my life. It was more like an ego requirement so that I could get in good with the teacher who was also the drama instructor and be able to showcase my talents in both arenas, which I did.
AKB48 continues to have many articles and picture features in UTB which has been a growing trend in these pages and (more ♥ for CK ne~!) they're really taking the idol group genre to chart topping heights in both position as well as sales~! Takusan~! AKB features in this issue!!! with both solo and group pictorials/articles on AKB48's Oshima Yuko & Maeda Atsuko, SKE48's Matsui Rena & Mukaida Manatsu as well as an AKB48 feature and a mini group named ”く~のね4”。。seifuku♥ so *kawaii*~!! ^ ^
H!P who's been a mainstay in UTB also has *cute* features on Maimai with additional off shots not included in her 1st solo shashinshuu~, an upcoming preview of Riichan's new shashinshuu always so *adorable* ne~! and Maimichan's♥ ongoing photo feature continues towards the back of this issue with what I think is possibly her most *kawaii* photo shoot to date for UTB~! \(^o^)/☆
While the format of UTB has seen so many changes over the years one of their staples has always been their high level of photography, engaging articles w/ idol games...news...interests..hobbies♥ as well as the occasional idol♥room invasion~! (・д・`*) With their glossy covers and flat spines back now for some time~ UTB has really returned to their original prestige in idol♥ publications setting the standard so much~.
The extras which in the past has included pull out posters, clear files and a most impressive DVD in each issue...now published every other month~ are randomly inserted photo trading cards and you'll receive with each issue a chance for one out of three possible sets~! This month I received set "A" and for the most part your favorite♥ idols are divided up pretty well within these card sets so for instance if you're a fan of either H!P or AKB48?SKE48 you'll receive at least one member in your set no matter if it's A, B or C~ ^ ^。
In addition...in the middle variety features section there's more on S/mileage with member profiles so you can learn their personalities much better, a solo shashinshuu article with Riichan♥ where she reflects on her previous pb releases~ and Nakki & Airiin preview C-ute's upcoming "best of" album which has a tentative release date of November 18th~!
Okay~! before I lull you into sleep ( 」´0`)」Zzzzzzz with any more of my talk~…(^q^) here are those aforementioned article's scans.....I'm beginning with Maimichan's♥ as I think it's the most *wonderful* pictorial in this issue and really she's just so so *adorable* here as she portrays daily activity *moments*~ from waking to playing to sleepy time here's Maimichan in "Days" vol.5 up first.....
I have the flu, and I am not happy about it. I went to my physician today, who took down my symptoms, took my temperature (100.8 at 2:00pm, ouch) and listened to my chest, then proclaimed that I have mild strain of the flu. He's not sure if it's swine or regular, but since the swine flu seems to be accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, body aches (my chest, back and ribs hurt like a bitch, but that's from all of the violent coughing spasms), it's probably the regular flu. Since I didn't get checked out when symptoms initially set in -- last weekend, when I was running a fever and my throat felt weird -- it's too late for Tamiflu. So I get a morphine-containing cough syrup instead. Spiffy!
Today's DailyBooth. Appropriate, no?I am beyond miserable, and I just don't know what to do with myself. I have spent the day in bed, in the living room recliner, on the couch, back in bed again, back to the recliner, and now in the bedroom at my desk. I can't wait to shake this crap. I hate being sick. :(
Oh, well - I've forgotten the model numbers. This is what happens when you take the time at a party to learn someone's name - you learn their name and make the whole evening special but you sacrifice some other random piece of information. In this case, model numbers.
As far as I can tell, I used a PDP-10:
(Taken by Ed Thelen of material owned by Computer History Museum under the non-commercial rule.)
Followed shortly by a VAX 11/780:
Talk about good times. I had access to these only because I was friends with the system administrator at school. He set me up (I think I basically whined a lot until he did) with a user name and password. My first user name and therefore email address ever was "tomato". I don't know why I chose that. He said "What do you want for a user name?" and I spouted out "Tomato". So I was known as "tomato" for a few years. Whenever I logged in I'd hear "Hey, there is a Tomato on the system!". I had email and was able to send/receive with a few friends that were online also - mostly right there at the school.
A few years ago a customer was walking through my company and he was talking about how he had made all of his money in the "internet" and how he had his first email address in 1988. That's how he started his conversation. It was like "How did you get rich in the internet?" and his first statement was "I had my first email address in 1988". Obviously there was something else involved because I had my first email address in 1983 and I didn't make it big in the internet. Of course, the internet wasn't really there yet so much back then. I think there was ARPANET, etc - but I'm not going to go into all of that.
I didn't do anything really constructive on either of these systems at the time besides read newsgroups. Later, maybe around 1987 I had to have a "real" account because I had a class on the VAX so the "tomato" account went away and I moved to something like just "wilso_d" or something else mundane. At that point I was taking an operating system class and we had to write our own OS in something like C or Pascal. It's all vague at this point, but none-the-less, this was my moment to both PDP and VAX systems. Both were pretty good considering the time frame. All text-based as I recall with dumb-terminals. I think the world really was faster before the advent of fancy graphical user interfaces (aka Windows).
You can read more about the VAX here.
